Chili Mac in the Electric Pressure Cooker

Image

I thought I would share a very simple recipe that I make in my Electric Pressure Cooker.  I call it Chili Mac, but I am not sure that is the right name for it, because it doesn’t have any chili seasoning in it.  This is one of those dinners I make when I have limited time and don’t feel like cooking.  I hope that you will enjoy it as well.

Chili Mac

1 Quart of homemade spaghetti sauce

1 lb hamburger (I threw 2 lb in tonight to make it stretch further)

1/4 – 1/2 cup of chopped onions (you can use Thrive FD onions and just throw them in without rehydrating)

1/2 cup water

1 heaping cup of uncooked elbow macaroni

Put hamburger & onions in the pressure cooker set timer to 6 min on high pressure without the lid.  This will heat the unit to start cooking.  Brown your meat with the onions.  When the meat is browned, add all the other ingredients, stir, put on the lid and set the dial to seal.  Release the pressure when done.

Notes:  I usually put the water in my mason jar after pouring the sauce in the pressure cooker, so that I can clean all the sauce from the mason jar.  I just swirl to clean the jar and dump the water in too.  Also, you may want to add some garlic salt after it cooks if it needs a little extra flavor.

Here is a picture of my leftovers, we had this for dinner tonight:

    • So sorry Edie, I did not make it clear. With my old pressure cooker you could set the time and it would heat up without the lid on. This allowed me to brown my meat and then when you put the lid on it would start the count down after it sealed. So, once the meat is browned, you put it all in at high pressure for 6 minutes. Thanks for reading my blog!
