If you love hot fudge sundaes and warm brownies, you have got to try this recipe. I got it from my cookbook entitled “Fix It and Forget It” and is by Maricarol Magill of Freehold, NJ. I have used this recipe for many years and it magically turns out every time. We buy vanilla ice cream and serve it with the cake. This is good if you are having company over for a dessert. I have also thought that it would be good for a potluck, but only if you could find a way to keep the ice cream from melting.
This is what the top of the cake looks like, underneath is a warm, ooey, gooey, hot fudge:
Hot Fudge Cake
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup flour
3 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
2 Tbsp. melted butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 3/4 cup boiling water
vanilla ice cream
Mix together 1 cup brown sugar, flour, 3 Tbsp. cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk, butter, and vanilla.

Mix together 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle over mixture in slow cooker.
Pour in boiling water. Do not stir.
Cover and cook on High 2-3 hours, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
